FINANCIAL AID
Your Opportunity to Serve begins here! We are pleased to award financial aid to assist you in your studies at Buddha Dharma University in return for your dāna (Dāna pāramitā: generosity, giving of oneself).
How is this to be accomplished? By helping us with basic tasks that will enhance our further outreach to the community. For example:
- Transcribing Dharma talks
- Reading and providing a summary on Sutra texts
- Serving as a volunteer for your local sitting group or Zen center (this requires the approval of your local abbot)
- Other tasks as needed
In short, we offer our services in exchange for yours through the simple act of you giving back to our Sangha by working in exchange for our financial assistance.
The first step to receive financial aid is to fill out the form below. Thank you for your willingness to give back to the Sangha!
NOTE: There is a finite amount of financial aid available in the form of scholarships. There is no guarantee scholarship money will be available when you apply. So please apply as early as possible in your decision-making process.
Students receiving financial aid are expected to show exemplary effort and commitment to the Dharma, and demonstrate academic mastery in the form of a grade of least a B or better. If academic performance drops below a B average, or if it is deemed students are not fully engaged in their academic studies, scholarships and/or grants will be revoked and students will be put on probation to determine if financial aid should be reinstated. Our goal is to provide access to the true Dharma to all. We therefore keep our costs extremely low relative to other universities and seminaries. If, however, the cost is still an impediment, we encourage you to apply for financial aid.
